Omnilux for Wound Healing

The healing quality of light has been understood for centuries. Light therapy for use in skin healing processes has its foundation in the work of researchers. Near infra-red light combined with Red light accelerates the wound healing response and therefore offers an effective adjunctive therapy, pre and post surgery and pre and post laser.

How Omnilux Works for wound healing

Omnilux Revive (red light) stimulates fibroblast (cells responsible for making collagen) activity, leading to faster and more efficient collagen synthesis. Omnilux plus (near Infra-red) stimulates the contractile phase of the remodelling process of wound healing producing better lineated collagen. In combination these wavelengths work in synergy to produce better visible results and hence patient satisfaction.Trials have clearly displayed that Red light (633 nm light) enhances not only DNA synthesis, but also augments cellular tissue regeneration pathways including collagen deposition which is crucial for wound healing. Near-infrared Light (at 830nm) is known to stimulate tissue remodelling cell lines and influence remodelling & restructuring of collagen. This makes for a tighter, stronger and cleaner scar after the wound heals. .


This client arrived in salon with a severly sprained ankle and on crutches. The injury pictured here shows severe swelling with bruising. The client was in great pain and could not walk on her ankle.







This picture was taken 3 days after the above photo. Note the dramatic reduction in swelling after only 2 Omnilux sessions. This client continued with several more sessions and was off crutches within days of commencing the wound healing process.
